“Logic is neither a science or an art, but a dodge.”

Science is the search for knowledge and understanding of the natural world. When we hear that something is scientifically proven we are most likely to believe that over "because i said so" reasoning. Our knowledge of the natural world is based on the carefully observed and consistent observations and experiments.
Art on the other hand is a persons personal interpretation of the world surrounding them. You cant be wrong in art because its a personal interpretation.
Logic on the other hand is neither one of these two. It is merely the analysis of the argument, it is not looking for the answer. It is dodging the search for the answer and is only analyzing the argument.

  1. I agree with you that logic is merely the means of testing the validity of an argument without finding an answer. However, I do think that it is closely related to science because science operates through use of logic.
To call logic a dodge would be missing the point because it is almost always used as part of the scientific method to find real answers.

  2. I agree with you for the most part, except that I think that logic isn't always a dodge. Logic CAN be used somewhat scientifically, or to try to find the answer to a question (like if you have a question and you can come up with a valid, truthful syllogism to answer that question), but for the most part it doesn't necessarily give anyone the correct answer, and logic is hardly particularly artfully compiled if the premises it's based on are necessarily obvious.
